This short presentation will briefly survey the extent and experience of collaborations with universities undertaken by the Science and Technology curators at the National Maritime Museum and Royal Observatory, Greenwich. This includes a successful research internship programme, a number of AHRC-funded Collaborative Doctoral Awards, a large project grant shared with the University of Cambridge and forays into teaching at Masters level. I will discuss the benefits to academic research and to the Museum, highlight successful outcomes and examine areas in which problems can arise or improvements be made.
