In this brief paper I will comment on what I take to be the authors’ key insights as well as raise new questions which they provoke. I will ask, fundamentally, how the symposium pushes our historical thinking about the role of domestic sites in knowledge production, and whether, in light of the perspectives offered, we might talk about “domestic science” as an extinct species or a durable form. Finally, I will suggest how the themes highlighted in the symposium might relate to broader narratives concerning the cultural status of the home.
